Terex Cranes has announced a free online lift planning tool, called Terex Liftplan, designed to add value to our customers’ lifting operations. The tool is the first of its kind in the industry. Terex Liftplan speeds up and simplifies the process of selecting the right Terex crane to perform a configured lift in a safe and efficient way. Available free of charge to Terex crane owners and their customers, it is extremely flexible and can be configured to meet specific and individual needs, according to the company.

Easy to access from any location – office, depot or job site – the new tool is available in nine different languages, uses either imperial or metric units and employs a variety of different methods to determine the best machine to deliver safety, performance and productivity on site, and most importantly, the entire process only takes a couple of minutes.

Michael Klein, manager of Product Marketing, commented: “Historically, only customers with big machines and complicated lifts have used lift planning tools. Today, we are very happy that this facility is available to anyone who uses a Terex crane, as it will allow smaller jobs to be better planned and therefore safer. It might be the fleet owner contracted to carry out a particular project, or one of his hire customers needing information on site.”

Having first registered and then entered their personal settings, including a company logo if required, users can select from a range of Terex cranes and specify the load, height and radius of the lift involved. A copy of the lift plan is then available to print out.

Importantly, the lift planning tool can be used on site on an ad-hoc basis. This is particularly useful for the crane driver should conditions change. The driver simply enters the new information and the system automatically does the rest – with minimum delay and inconvenience all round, according to the company.

“We expect it to be used in a number of different ways, by different people: by Terex territory managers, Terex distributors when talking to new and existing customers, customers themselves and, of course, by hirers on a day-to-day basis who want to pre-plan their lifts and make sure they have the best Terex crane for the job in hand. Overall, it provides a real benefit for anyone choosing and using a Terex crane” added Klein.
