The 2013 Midwest Construction Expo and Field Day, which was sponsored by the Iowa Land Improvement Contractor’s Association, was held at the Iowa LICA Farm east of Melbourne, Iowa on July 31 and Aug. 1.
More than 700 visitors came to the expo over the two day period. This is the largest display of working equipment, materials, and service providers in the state. All the major machinery dealers and others who provide services and materials to contractors who do land improvement work in the state were there.
There was more than 100 pieces of construction machinery on site. Tiling machines, dozers, backhoes, scrapers, excavators, seeders, mini-excavators, skid loaders, etc. Many of the machines were run by GPS. This year the main work was moving dirt for a wetland portion of the deep water pond that will be finished in the next few years. A septic system also was installed and contractors received CEU credits for attending a class on installation of septic systems.
