The Cat M Series 3 motorgraders — 12M3, 140M3, 160M3 and their all-wheel-drive (AWD) counterparts — bring the latest emissions reduction technology, greater fuel efficiency, more operator comfort and safety features, as well as enhanced serviceability. M Series 3 motorgraders meet U.S. EPA Tier IV Final/EU Stage IV emission standards.
Fuel Efficiency and Emissions Reduction
M Series 3 motorgraders meet U.S. EPA Tier IV Final/EU Stage IV emission standards using emissions reduction technology that is designed to be transparent, with no action required by the operator. There is no need to stop for regeneration. The system uses Caterpillar's aftertreatment solution with the addition of selective catalytic reduction (SCR). SCR utilizes diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), which can be conveniently filled from ground level when the machine is fueled. Because of improved fuel economy over Tier IV Interim and efficient use of DEF, M Series 3 motorgraders deliver excellent overall fluid efficiency, according to the manufacturer.
A new standard economy (ECO) mode can be turned on to help save fuel by reducing engine speed so the machine works in a more efficient range. The average fuel savings is up to 10 percent, depending on the application.
Cat Connect makes smart use of technology and services to help improve job site efficiency. M Series 3 motorgraders are equipped with Product Link, which helps fleet owners track location, hours, fuel usage, productivity, idle time, and diagnostic codes through the online VisionLink interface.
