Lee Kramer, president of Xtreme Manufacturing, passed away on Jan. 18, 2015, from pneumonia. He was 67.

Mr. Kramer was born Sept. 1, 1947, in Waukegan, Ill., where he lived the first 30 plus years of his life. Following graduation from Waukegan Township High School in 1966, Mr. Kramer pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a mechanical engineer.

An engineer at heart, Mr. Kramer studied mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois, and started his career at Komatsu Dresser Company (previously known as Dresser Construction Equipment, International Harvester & Hough), before moving on to Blount Inc. and Timberjack Corporation. He entered the AWP industry with UpRight in 1999 as engineering manager based in Selma, Calif.

After a two year tenure with UpRight, Mr. Kramer moved to Fresno Engineering Design Group, before joining Don Ahern in 2003 at the start of Xtreme Manufacturing, working as VP of engineering. Mr. Kramer played an integral role in the development of the first Xtreme telehandlers, and went on to lead the growth of the Xtreme manufacturing business in his role as president.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Kapheim) Kramer, whom he wed in 1980; their son Justin and wife Kathleen (“Kat”); and their daughter Jordan.

Mr. Kramer’s other loves included his Boston Terrier, Mellie, who spent many hours sitting on his lap as he read or watched TV in his favorite lounge chair. He also was the proud owner of a 50th Anniversary Porsche 911 that he and his son Justin had customized and ordered.
