The Terex Hi-Ranger TM Series of heavy-duty aerial devices for transmission applications was first introduced to the utility industry at the 2003 ICUEE Show (now Utility Expo).

"The Hi-Ranger TM has a long history of innovative design and dependable performance. The mid-range model was first introduced to the market at this same show 20 years ago — and has remained a perennial favorite among utility crews," said Joe Caywood, director of marketing and product management.

Three models are available with working heights of 87, 100 and 125 ft., respectively. This classic non-overcenter aerial features upper and lower fiberglass inserts, upper and lower boom extension, and continuous unrestricted planetary rotation.

Boom articulation of 78 degrees of elevation above horizontal, 168 degrees of upper boom articulation and 90 degrees of lower boom articulation helps line workers accurately position themselves close to the work, the manufacturer said.

"Utility crews appreciate the rigid, stable design and smooth operation, especially when using dual functions to get into the work zone," said Caywood.

Customized Performance

"At Terex Utilities, our focus is on customization. Being able to build TM aerials to specific customer requirements is part of the reason this series has remained a favorite for 20 years," said Caywood.

These units can be mounted on track or truck carriers. Adding a platform access step inside the bed of the truck eliminates the need to lower the bucket to the ground from the lower controls.

TM aerial devices are Category "C" rated, with the option for Category "A" or "B" rating per ANSI A92.2 and is commonly used up to 500 kv but has been rated up to 765 kv for specialty applications.
