The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) has announced the winners of the AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards. The award is presented to contractors who demonstrate a cultural commitment to safety.

This year’s award winners were announced at the seventh annual AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) Breakfast during AGC’s 87th Annual Convention in Palm Springs, CA.

“AGC continually strives to improve safety across the construction industry and on job sites every day,” said Stephen E. Sandherr, AGC CEO. “The presence of this awards program enforces AGC’s commitment to its members and America to lead the industry in safely building the nation’s quality of life.”

The awards program requires finalists to achieve zero work site fatalities and multi-catastrophic injuries. It examines the contractor’s safety program and looks for evidence of company management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation.

In addition, finalists were required to make a presentation of their safety program to an independent panel of judges with more than 150 years of safety experience, representing organizations including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), insurance firms, academia and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Willis has sponsored the AGC Annual Safety Awards Breakfast since 1986, with the Construction Safety Excellence Awards being presented for the past seven years.
