On Oct. 4, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) signed a partnering agreement pledging to promote construction markets, to improve the industry’s image and to provide opportunities for all construction firms. The agreement was signed at a special ceremony at the 2004 AGC Midyear Meeting in Phoenix, AZ.

The associations will partner to develop meaningful dialog to foster development of communications at the national and local levels, promote the use of mentor-protégé programs to better the construction industry by empowering minority owned firms with access to business services and other programs designed to increase competitiveness, and collaborate on industry issues that improve the business climate for all contractors.

“AGC would like to thank NAMC for joining with us in our mutual goal of improving the construction industry,” AGC President Jim Waltze said.

AGC is the largest, most respected, and most effective construction industry association in the United States, with 99 chapters representing more than 33,000 general contractor, specialty contractor and supplier service members.

NAMC represents members in 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands, including general contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, manufacturers, suppliers, local minority contractor associations, attorneys, accountants and other professionals. The association seeks to address construction industry concerns common to African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans and other minority groups.

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States. AGC represents more than 33,000 firms, including 7,500 of America’s leading general contractors, nearly 12,000 specialty-contracting firms and over 13,000 service providers and suppliers that are associated with AGC through a nationwide network of chapters.
