Alterra Trading Inc. has been selected to receive the Small Business Excellence Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This annual award is sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC) and the small business community.

The SBA, NYBDC and Central New York lenders, along with economic development organizations have teamed-up to recognize the importance of small business to the Upstate New York economy. The SBA announced the award candidates in April and presented the awards at a luncheon May 5 in Syracuse.

Alterra Trading is an international trading company specializing in the heavy construction industry. In addition to buying and selling equipment across North America and around the world, Alterra provides inspection and appraisal services, brokerage services and logistical assistance to construction companies and equipment dealers.

Alterra Trading was founded in 2002 by Chris Pomeroy. Pomeroy, a 20-year industry veteran, was most recently of Syracuse Supply Company, the Central New York Caterpillar dealer.
