MANDAN, N.D. (AP) Mandan Park Board officials have chosen the architect to design a $22 million sports complex in the city.

Voters in June approved a three-fourths percent sales tax to fund the facility near the Tesoro oil refinery north of Interstate 94. The Bismarck Tribune reported that Bismarck-based JLG Architects will design it.

The sports complex will include a two-rink hockey arena, gymnastics facilities, and a football and track field. The existing football and track field will be converted into ball fields.

Kevin Ruhland with JLG Architects said the project could be awarded to contractors next February.

Collection of the sales tax is expected to start in October. The tax will end when all construction costs are paid.
