A General Assembly caucus from the Fourth Congressional District on Sept. 6 elected Robert L. Brown Jr., an architect from Decatur, to the State Transportation Board.

“Robert Brown is a great choice,” said Board Chairman David Doss of Rome. “He is committed to the same sort of changes as the other members of the board.”

A Dublin native and a 30-year resident of DeKalb County, Brown replaces Brad Hubbert, who resigned his seat in June.

Brown’s term will expire April 15, 2006.

“I appreciate the different needs of both rural and urban Georgia and how transportation affects the economic development of the state,” Brown said. “My background made it necessary for me to see the benefits of our transportation system and to understand the downside of congestion.”

Currently the president and CEO of R.L. Brown & Associates Inc., Brown began his career in architecture by working with different architectural and construction firms in the Atlanta area. In 1999, he was named to the American Institute of Architect’s College of Fellows for his contributions to the profession.

“I am honored to have been elected by the senators and representatives of this district,” Brown said. “I will do my best to service this district well.”
