Black Hills Energy began construction of a new, 4.5-mi. natural gas pipeline June 3. The project provides customers with the additional reliability needed to meet growth in the Laramie area.

"The city of Laramie and the University of Wyoming are experiencing a great deal of growth and this project provides reliability for our expanding community," said Rachael Sisneros, supervisor of gas operations in Laramie. "The investment is necessary for Black Hills Energy to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable natural gas service."

Work on the 12-in. steel pipeline began on West Lyon Street and concludes on East Harney Street. Customers in the work areas will be notified in advance by Black Hills Energy through letters mailed to their homes. In addition, Black Hills Energy's contract crews, will go door-to-door providing notification prior to beginning work, as the project will require access to streets adjacent to customers' front yards and could temporarily affect driveway access (less than one day).

Black Hills Energy has contracted the infrastructure project to TRC Construction Inc. Crews will be using vehicles marked as Black Hills Energy contractors and also will be wearing photo identification cards.

"Our contract crews will make every effort to provide customers with notification before beginning street work in business and residential areas," said Sisneros. "We will provide metal ramps to ensure driveway access, if needed, and we will work to ensure that we leave the area in the same or better shape than we found it."

Natural gas service will not be interrupted during the pipeline installation. The project is expected to be completed by early fall.

Black Hills Energy is committed to sharing information and answering any questions that our customers, have during this process.
