Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) awarded Trevor Bollman, Missouri University of Science & Technology, the Frank Geske Jr. Memorial Scholarship.
The award ceremony took place at IAAP’s 40th Annual Convention at the Crowne Plaza, located on 1115 2nd St. in Springfield, Ill., March 26.
The IAAP Education Scholarship program promotes the education of students seeking a career with producers of crushed stone, sand and gravel.
The scholarship is intended to enchance the relationship bewteen the IAAP and institutions of higher learning that are educating and training the next generation of aggregate industry professionals.
The IAAP Education Foundation Committee has chosen four students to receive $2,000 scholarships in 2008: Joseph Batir, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, geology; Trevor Bollman, Missouri University of Science & Technology, geology and geophysics; Timothy Goeckner, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, mining engineering; and Denise Soehrman, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, civil engineering.
The Education Foundation Committee consisted of John Henriksen, IAAP; Don Sharpe, Sharpe Consulting LLC; Mike Stanczak, Lehigh Hanson; and Robert Wegener, SEC Group Inc.
