Featuring high output and maneuverability, Bomag’s BW211-40 single-drum vibratory rollers series consists of two models: the BW211D-40 smooth drum roller and the BW211PD-40 padfoot roller.

The 12-ton (11 t) class rollers are powered by a four-cylinder water-cooled Deutz diesel engine that meets EPA Tier III requirements. The series is designed for efficient compaction of granular, mixed and semi-cohesive soils, making it ideal for a variety of site preparation applications, including highway construction and maintenance, airports, streets and subdivisions, parking lots and landfills.

The BW211D-40 features a 22,930-lb. (10,401 kg) operating weight, while the BW211PD-40 boasts a 25,785-lb. (11,696 kg) operating weight. Dual vibrating frequencies and amplitudes customize the machines for different job site requirements.

Both models deliver frequencies of 1,800 and 2,160 vibrations per minute (vpm) across an 84-in. (213 cm) operating width. The smooth-drum roller generates 53,100 lbs. (24,086 kg) of centrifugal force in high amplitude and 38,250 lbs. (17,350 kg) in low amplitude, while the padfoot version provides 61,875 lbs. (28,066 kg) of centrifugal force in high amplitude and 44,550 lbs. (20,207 kg) in low amplitude.

Several new features on the BW211-40 Series increase operator comfort and job site safety. Engineers improved the line of sight to the rear of each machine, ensuring all-around visibility for maximum safety. The comfortable design of the vibration-isolated operator platform also is enhanced with an ergonomically repositioned steering wheel. An optional swivel seat also is available.

Additionally, a 12-degree oscillating angle and 35-degree steering angle provide optimum maneuverability on the job site and operation is further simplified with a single lever control for travel and vibration modes.

The new models also feature a repositioned, integrated instrumentation cluster. The panel alerts operators to potential service problems associated with oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, brake control, electrical charge control and the fuel system water separator. Optional compaction measurement and control systems are now available as well.

The BW211-40 Series offers enhanced climbing performance, with maximum gradeability of 47 percent with and without vibration. The rear axle features a no-spin differential for improved traction, while the 66-gal. (250 L) capacity fuel tank increases productivity by minimizing downtime.

Built for simple maintenance, the BW211-40 Series features maintenance-free steering cylinder pins, travel bearings and a bolt-on articulation joint. The engine air intake is positioned high above the ground to increase filter life and the hood opens vertically for easy access to the engine, hydraulics and all service points.
