Construction Equipment Guide

Featuring a high horsepower-per-cutting-tooth ratio, the Bomag BM2000/60-2 cold planer milling machine is designed to remove damaged or deteriorated asphalt surfaces from highways, streets and parking lots. Easily transportable and delivering high production, the unit offers cutting widths of either 79 or 86 in. (200 or 218 cm) to remove a half lane of road surface in one pass.

The BM2000/60-2 is equipped with 168 milling teeth and is powered by a Deutz water-cooled diesel engine. The milling machine features a 590-hp (440 kW) engine that delivers a horsepower-per-cutting-tooth ratio of 3.5 and efficient maximum working speed of 131.2 ft. (40 m) per minute. The unit is capable of milling depths between 0 and 12.6 in. (0 and 32 cm).

The machine comes standard with coordinated, four-track steering, providing added maneuverability in commercial applications and other tight job locations. The BM2000/60-2 has an inside turning radius of 7 ft. (2 m).

For optimal consistency while working over changing grades and slopes, the milling depth can be controlled using the INTELPLANER automatic depth control system. INTELPLANER allows the operator to dial in the appropriate grade, and a microprocessor automatically cuts to the desired depth as it moves along the asphalt surface.

An ergonomic workstation on the BM2000/60-2 includes a completely vibration-insulated operator’s platform that eliminates hazardous vibrations through both the floor plate and operating console. The cab protects the operator from weather elements, as well as from trees or other obstacles, while offering spacious comfort to enhance the working environment. The platform provides enhanced job site visibility, while dual grade and slope controls allow simple and safe operation from either side of the machine, according to the manufacturer.

For fast maintenance in the field, the BM2000/60-2 features quick-change cutting teeth and holders. Maintenance is further simplified by an onboard computer system, complete with graphic LCD readout, that monitors and controls machine functions. This system continuously informs the operator of the machine’s working condition and can be used to check the status of schedule maintenance requirements with the press of a button. The machine also features high-capacity storage compartments for immediate access to wear parts, tools and personal equipment.

Other standard equipment on the BM2000/60-2 includes a large capacity 924-gal. (3,498 L) water tank and 317-gal. (1,200 L) fuel tank to allow longer periods of operation. Due to a front-loading, hydraulically foldable discharge conveyor, the planer can easily be transported to and from the jobsite.
