MUMBAI, India (AP) A vehicle bridge being built near the Mumbai international airport collapsed, killing three people and injuring six others, a fire official said.

The victims were mainly workers at the construction site, the official said. The injured have been hospitalized.

The cause of the Feb. 7 collapse was being investigated, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to reporters.

Work at the construction site has been going on for two years.

Poor construction material and inadequate foundations are often blamed for building collapses in India.
