Caltrans Celebrates East Nicolaus Bypass Groundbreaking

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the East Nicolaus Bypass June 6.

The groundbreaking marks the start of the final segment of the four-lane corridor project between Sacramento and Marysville.

This $82 million construction project includes a new alignment bypassing the town of East Nicolaus and a new two-lane bridge. The work is scheduled for completion in 2011.

State and local officials are scheduled to attend the ceremony and participate in the actual groundbreaking.

The ceremony took place on Nicolaus Avenue west of State Route 70 South in East Nicolaus.
