Since 1926, customers have known Carolina Tractor as the exclusive Caterpillar dealer for western North Carolina. Now the company is changing its name and logo to reflect its extensive product line and services.

On Nov. 15 Carolina Tractor became Carolina CAT.

“We’re changing our business name to Carolina CAT to bring clarity to the market about what we truly do,” said President Ed Weisiger Jr. “When our company was founded, Caterpillar sold a small range of equipment, which was universally referred to as ’tractors.’ Caterpillar now manufactures diesel truck engines and electrical power generation equipment, in addition to the broadest range of large and small construction machinery in the world. As Caterpillar continues to expand, the name ’Carolina CAT’ better explains everything we have to offer.”

Carolina CAT will continue to sell and service various types of construction equipment –– lift trucks, over-the-road trucks and engines. The company also operates a complete welding and fabrication service, a power generation business, a parts supply and material handling business and rental operations with more than 2,100 units in its fleet.

Carolina CAT operates in 46 counties in western North Carolina. Headquartered in Charlotte, the company has facilities in Greensboro, Asheville, Hickory and Monroe. Its customers include earth-moving contractors, landscape contractors, utility contractors, utility suppliers, paving contractors, landfills, hospitals, manufacturing companies, warehousing and distribution companies, data centers, large truck fleets and agricultural facilities.

“Carolina Tractor’s name has always meant ’outstanding customer service’ to our customers and to our employees,” said Weisiger. “Carolina CAT will, too.”
