Caterpillar’s Athens fabrications and assembly facility recently held a press event to unveil six new series to the Caterpillar line up. The Cat D5K2, which is part of a new track type tractor series, will be manufactured at the Athens, Ga., facility.

The event also highlighted the company’s decision to transfer all operations from Sagami, Japan, to Athens, Ga., creating American jobs and lowering operational costs.

Small-Chassis D

Series Loaders

Four new D Series small-chassis models are the latest additions to the Cat compact track loader (CTL) and skid steer loader (SSL) ranges: SSL models 226D and 232D; and CTL models 239D and 249D — all incorporating the design innovations of larger D Series machines, including a sealed and pressurized cab, electro-hydraulic controls, redesigned lift arms, premium seat choices and optional advanced display (available with rear-view camera). All use an electronic Cat C2.2 engine that meets Tier IV Final/Stage IIIB emissions standards.

Cat D2 Series Loaders

The new Cat 272D2 skid steer loader, 297D2 multi-terrain loader and 299D2 compact track loader — along with their more powerful XHP counterparts — build on the engineering advances in performance, operator comfort, visibility, control and machine security of their D Series predecessors. Now standard on all six D2 Series models is the exclusive Caterpillar heads-up advanced display, and all feature a new engine-compartment sealing system for enhanced airflow debris control. Non-XHP models have increases in rated operating capacity (ROC), and XHP models now maintain their excellent ROC numbers without external counterweights. All models have a vertical-lift loader linkage and use a Cat C3.8 engine meeting U.S. EPA Tier IV Final/EU Stage IV emissions standards.

F2 Series

Backhoe Loaders

The new F2 Series Cat backhoe loaders includes the 416F2, 420F2, 430F2 and a model new to the range, the 415F2. The new F2 Series center-pivot models build on the solid performance, reliability and durability of their F Series predecessors with engines that meet Tier IV Final emissions standards, new operator’s station and added features and options that further enhance performance and operator productivity. The 420F2 and 430F2 continue to be available with both single-tilt and Integrated Tool Carrier (IT) front linkage, and four-wheel drive is standard for the 430F2 and available for other models.

Cat D3K2, D4K2 and D5K2 Models

The new Cat D3K2, D4K2 and D5K2 track type tractors have a refined design that includes engines meeting U.S. EPA Tier IV Final/EU Stage IV emissions standards and new features and options that further enhance performance in utility and grading applications. The new models add customer value with such features as automatic traction-control, slope-indicate and available slope-assist, while retaining the premium features of their predecessors — hydrostatic drive, stable blade and power pitch systems, eco mode and spacious, well-appointed operator’s stations with improved climate comfort features.

Cat M Series Compact Wheel Loaders

The new Cat M Series compact wheel loaders —906M, 907M and 908M —feature Caterpillar’s exclusive Optimized Z-bar loader linkage, which combines aggressive digging power with parallel lift. These models use a 75-gross horsepower engine with an electronically controlled hydrostatic drive system that meets U.S. EPA Tier IV Final / EU Stage IIIB emission standards. Electro-hydraulic controls allow for engineering enhancements for the drive system, implement controls, auxiliary hydraulic system and loader linkage. A range of work tools and couplers are available, ensuring optimum versatility and productivity. Valuable options including a high-speed configuration, ride control system and high-flow hydraulics make the M Series compact wheel loaders even more productive in landscaping, agricultural, industrial, snow removal and general construction applications.

Cat M-Series Small Wheel Loaders

The new Cat M-Series small wheel loaders — 926M, 930M and 938M —build on the success of K-Series predecessor models —924K, 930K and 938K — with engineering refinements that include new engines meeting Tier IV Final emission standards and new options and features that further enhance value, operator comfort, and safety. Innovative features introduced with the K-Series carry over to the new M-Series family.
