The Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties (CAWGC) has announced that this year’s Member of the Year Award was presented to a very surprised Lori DuPree at the Associations Cocktail Reception which was held at the Joliet Country Club. DuPree who currently serves on the CAWGC Board of Directors was told at the last Board meeting that there was not going to be any awards presented this year due to lack of nominations. However, that information was false as there were many nominations and most of them were for Lori.

DuPree who together with her husband Dave are owners of DuPree Construction Company and have been CAWGC members since 2009. Lori was appointed to the board in March 2010 when there was a vacancy to fill. After filling the vacancy she reran in the 2011 election where she successfully regained her seat on the board.

Lori who rarely misses any CAWGC events, was instrumental with organizing the first CAWGC EXPO in 2010 and has served as co-chair ever since. In addition to the EXPO Committee she serves as Chairman on the Carpenters Committee and always donates her time to our Steak Fry every year.

Dan Byrnes, Underground Pipe & Valve, who was the 2012 Member of the Year and who has known DuPree on a personal level for years added that Lori is an athlete and a passionate volunteer, not only for the Contractors Association of Will & Grundy Counties (CAWGC) but also for youth sports and charitable fund raisers. Lori worked tirelessly for the Plainfield Soccer Association for many years Managing and Coaching both young boys and girls teams. But simply managing and coaching youth soccer wasn’t enough for her. (For her to truly understand and experience what the young athletes were experiencing Lori jointed an adult woman’s soccer league ten or so years ago and began playing soccer herself. She still plays till this day.) Lori’s latest athletic hobby is Golf and from what I understand, she is quite good at. “Lori is a joy to be around – if she’s had a bad day one would never know it and when she serves on a committee it feels more like hosting a party rather than organizing an association event” added Byrnes.
