Jane Gallagher, a long-time Construction Equipment Guide employee, died on July 26. She was 86.

Ms. Gallagher worked for Construction Equipment Guide in the sales support department for nearly 25 years, primarily assisting auction companies and following up on all bargain ads. She also handled CEO Edwin McKeon’s correspondence. Prior to joining CEG, Ms. Gallagher worked at a prominent advertising agency in Philadelphia, but she tired of the commute. At that time CEG was looking for someone with a strong advertising background to fill a position in sales support. Ms. Gallagher had that and more; she also was adept at ad copywriting and PR.

“Jane was a pleasure to work with and I know she enjoyed working with everyone here at Construction Equipment Guide,” said Craig Mongeau, editor in chief of CEG. “Always happy, always outgoing, Jane approached her work in sales with as much passion as she had for conversation with her co-workers; she loved politics and just about every day there was something going on in the news about which she’d welcome a discussion — or debate. She’ll be missed by all of us at CEG.”

“Jane walked in with a smile every day and was always willing to help others with their work,” added her co-worker in the sales support department, Kathy Uluski. “Jane loved to talk about politics and the latest fashions — no one wore leopard print better than Jane.”

Ms. Gallagher retired from Construction Equipment Guide in 2009 but continued to attend the company’s annual Christmas luncheon.

“While there, she still was very interested in finding out how things were going at the company — without her,” said Ted McKeon, publisher of Construction Equipment Guide. “Of course Jane was as sociable at the luncheon as she was any other time, except at the luncheon we had to put her on a two-martini limit.”

She is survived by her cousins, second cousins and their families.
