ConExpo Asia 2007 will feature an extensive educational program that will provide attendees with the latest information on industry and business trends to keep them competitive in today’s economy. More than 25 sessions are designed for contractors, business owners/managers, construction materials producers and safety professionals, and will be presented by experts from around the globe. All sessions will be simultaneously presented in both Mandarin and English to maximize knowledge sharing time.
In addition, ConExpo Asia 2007 will host several industry events that have co-located with the show in recognition of its value as the 2007 industry gathering place for the Asia-Pacific construction industry.
ConExpo Asia 2007 will be held Dec. 4 to 7, 2007, at the Chinese Import and Export Fair (CIEF) Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, China. The show is organized by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME).
To provide extra value to show visitors, ConExpo Asia offers extensive industry-focused education and live working equipment demonstrations to extend the knowledge-sharing opportunities between exhibitors and attendees.
The 2007 show’s educational offerings have been expanded compared to the education at the inaugural ConExpo Asia in 2006 to offer attendees a broader array of business solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Special emphasis is placed on fleet maintenance, financial equipment issues and specific construction projects in the Asian region, in addition to new sessions on personal and professional development.
There also will be a special session on current and future ISO international standards development for construction and earthmoving machines and their impact on machinery market acceptance and safe use.
New in 2007 for ConExpo Asia, the education programs are now organized into four tracks for attendees to easily identify sessions most relevant to their specific needs — products, projects, management and efficiencies, and personal development.
This expanded education is the result of working with ConExpo Asia 2007 supporting organizations, including the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA) and the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management (CACEM), as well as trade media, who have helped develop and refine the education program to best meet the needs of show attendees.
ConExpo Asia 2007 education presenters will include an international team of experts, including the Associated Equipment Distributors (Chicago), the Wentworth Institute of Technology (Boston), ASAPP Media Information Group (Mumbai, India), Fiducia Management Consultants (Shanghai, China), Haulotte Group (Paris, France) and Caterpillar China Financial Leasing (Beijing, China), along with many other international consultants and manufacturers.

A new highlight for education is ConExpo Asia’s partnership with the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. The Wentworth Institute of Technology is an internationally-recognized private institution of higher education offering cutting-edge degree programs, including construction management and engineering.
Professor and Department Head of Civil, Construction and Environment Craig Capano, will be featured in several sessions at ConExpo Asia 2007, including The Basics of Construction Informatics, Supervision of Efficient Construction Projects, and Construction Projects Marketing and Development.
Capano also was a featured presenter at ConExpo Asia 2006.
“Information on management and efficiencies is helpful for the Chinese and Asia-Pacific market because of the rapid acceleration of contracts and projects. Knowledge sharing allows attendees to understand how to deal with accelerated speed of contracts without compromising safety or quality,” Capano said.
Co-Located Industry Events Provide Added Value to Attendees, Exhibitors
Additional opportunities will be provided to enhance information-sharing and networking among industry professionals through several prestigious events that will be held at ConExpo Asia 2007.
The Association of Equipment Distributors (AED) will bring a delegation of dealer/principals from North America to ConExpo Asia 2007 to help them better understand Chinese manufacturers and to help Chinese distributors and manufacturers better understand how to work efficiently with North American distributors and dealers.
A conference will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, with presentations, round table discussions, and networking with AED senior executives and leading dealer/principals.
Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine will bring its education programs to ConExpo Asia 2007. On Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, ENR will present two 90-minute programs.
One ENR program will provide attendees with the latest in “Smart Strategies for Growth” from a panel of top Chinese construction firm executives, and the other one will discuss “Material Price Inflation: How to Avoid the Crunch” with a panel of experts describing solutions to the challenge of ever-rising material prices within a rapid building boom.
Engineering News-Record also has chosen ConExpo Asia 2007 as the meeting place for its fourth annual Top Chinese Firms awards ceremony. This executive networking function recognizes the top Chinese contractors and design firms as compiled by ENR and the Shanghai-based industry newspaper Construction Times. The awards ceremony will take place the evening of Thursday, Dec. 6.
Trimble Navigation will co-locate its “Technology Solutions for Construction” seminar at ConExpo Asia 2007 on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
This seminar will provide attendees the opportunity to learn about how technology can change the way heavy and highway construction work is performed.
Topics will include how positioning solutions such as GPS, GLONASS, Total Station and Laser, combined with powerful application software, can improve the productivity of the earthmoving process, ensure accuracy, save material and reduce rework. Sessions will cover grade control systems for excavators, dozers, graders and compactors, site positioning systems, data handling and more.
