GRAND FORKS, ND (AP) Work was slated to start Aug 2 on a $22 million wellness center at the University of North Dakota.
Rick Tonder, UND associate facilities director, said the first phase of the project involves site preparation, paving the parking lot and erecting structural steel. Also, high voltage electricity service will be installed.
“You’ll start seeing it rise out of the ground,” Tonder said.
The bulk of the wellness center construction will be put up for bids in October, he said.
The center will have fitness areas, an indoor running track, a climbing wall, dance studios and gymnasiums.
The wellness center will be funded through bonds supported by student-approved fee hikes.
Tonder said the facility should be completed in two years.
