Dean Machinery Co., the regional dealer of Caterpillar Inc., has announced its acquisition of the sales territory of the Flenties Dealerships in northwestern Missouri.

“This agreement will allow the Dean agricultural business base to expand significantly, while better helping to bring the ag community the quality service Dean has built its reputation on,” Lori Dean, president, said.

The Flenties Dealerships territory includes Maryville and St. Joseph, MO.

The dealership was owned and run by AGCO Corporation, a world leader in the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of agricultural equipment and parts.

Dean’s acquisition arrangement includes the sales and product support opportunity of both locations, the Maryville facility only and other assets.

The Maryville location covers 3 acres and includes two buildings.

Employees at the Maryville and St. Joseph locations are being considered for continued employment with Dean Ag Services.

“We look forward to growing our business by serving the customer base that has been built by Flenties through the years. Committed to the future of the Ag Industry, we’re adding lines of equipment and tools to better serve the market while we increase our capabilities through the addition of qualified, experienced new employees from Flenties. This significantly increased presence in northwestern Missouri is a critical element to our taking a greater leadership role in the region,” Dean said.

Dean Machinery Co. is now celebrating its 50th year in business.

Founded in 1955 by the late Lester M. Dean Sr., the company has grown from a small 20-county Caterpillar coverage area in Missouri to its current role in the sales, rental and support of Cat equipment and engines in much of western Missouri and eastern Kansas.

Dean currently has more than 300 employees, with a headquarters location in Kansas City, MO, and branch stores in Chillicothe, Sedalia and St. Joseph.

It also operates a truck shop and power generation facility in Kansas City and a component rebuild facility in Elwood, KS.

In addition, Dean Machinery operates a chain of CAT Rental Stores with branches in Kansas City, St. Joseph, Lee’s Summit and Sunrise Beach, MO, and Olathe, KS.

The 10-branch operation currently serves a 40 county area in western Missouri, and five counties in northeastern Kansas.
