In appreciation for their business, Doosan treated customers and dealers from across the country to the NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Speedway Sept. 8.

This was race was of particular importance because it set the field for the 12 drivers who would participate in NASCAR’s “Race to the Chase.”

The Richmond track is a 0.75-mi. V-shaped oval with 14-degree banking in the turns, which makes for an extremely exciting race. With a field of 43 cars, which look particularly brilliant under the tracks lighting system, more than 112 Doosan tour group attendees were present to watch Jimmie Johnson take the checkered flag at the end of an evening of great racing and many yellow flag incidents.

Doosan has enjoyed a long-term sponsorship of Joe Gibbs Racing. Joe Gibbs fields three NASCAR Nextel Cup cars, including the No. 20 Home Depot car of Tony Stewart, the No. 11 FedEx car of Denny Hamlin, and the No. 18 Interstate Batteries car piloted by J.J. Yeley. (A close inspection of any of these three cars will reveal a Doosan sticker placed on one of the quarter panels.)

Doosan and its customers enjoyed more than just a great race. The night before the race Doosan hosted a cocktail cruise down the James River. In the afternoon of Sept. 8, the entire group was taken to a hospitality area at the track, which included food and beverages; various forms of entertainment; a meet and greet session with J.D. Gibbs, the son of Joe Gibbs, and president of Joe Gibbs Racing. As a special surprise the group also was treated to a guest appearance by Dale Earnhart Jr., driver of the No. 8 Budweiser car.
