Dynapac, a manufacturer of compaction and road building equipment, celebrated the grand opening of its production plant in Selma, TX, on June 26. Located just north of San Antonio, the 25,000 sq. ft. building is dedicated to the fabrication of vibratory rollers.

With 50 employees on site, the plant is expected to roll out 250 units in 2006, 750 in 2007 and more than 1,000 in 2008.

The facility also has a 33,000 sq. ft. warehouse that stores more than 12,000 parts.

The morning started out with introductions and a slide presentation, led by Ronald Kok, Dynapac’s global president and CEO and followed by other staff members, including Bruce Truesdale, president, North America, George Platt, vice president, paving and milling, Graciela Ruiz, director of aftermarket and Brian Bieller, vice president, sales and marketing/compaction products.

The more than 65 visitors, which included dealers and contractors from the United States, Canada and Mexico, were given a short history of the company, a look at the services the new facility will provide and the company’s goals for the near future, including a preview of 2007 products.

The group then toured the factory floor and watched a demonstration of the assembly line in action with detailed information presented by spokes people as to what happens at various stations of the assembly.

More than 70 years old, having been established in 1934, Dynapac also produces light compaction equipment, pavers, planers and concrete equipment for worldwide distribution at facilities in Sweden, Germany, France, China and Brazil.

North America is second only to all of Europe in sales of Dynapac products.
