ECCO Equipment Corporation has teamed up with the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America to provide equipment for Camp Potosi, which is located on Mt. Potosi approximately 30 mi. southwest of Las Vegas. The donated equipment will be utilized for maintaining and widening of roads for the Mt. Potosi Fire Department and for the Bureau of Reclamation. Additionally, the equipment is being employed for the clearing of undergrowth from trees located in and around the camp area to reduce the risk of fire.

Camp Potosi is located within the Spencer W. Kimball Scout Reservation. The reservation is “history in the making.” This high desert reservation is 1,120 acres in area and is at an elevation of 5,800 ft. with daytime temperatures 20 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley. Camp Potosi has more than 4 mi. of dirt roads, 11 mi. of hiking trails and provides campsites for up to 70 troops. Amenities include swimming pool, trading post and a large amphitheater. There are facilities for activities, which include a canoeing pond, rappelling tower, Indian village and shelters for other activities.

Camp Potosi can and is used by many other organizations for the development of young minds and bodies. It is used for merit badge qualifications, summer camps as well as lifeguard training and many other activities. The Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts is continually improving and expanding the quality of the facilities and the programs.
