After a several year hiatus from the construction equipment scene, Edelen and Boyer has returned to business in Colmar, PA, with the McCusker family at the helm.

“Our main focus will be equipment rental and transportation of construction equipment and materials,” said Patrick McCusker, president of Edelen and Boyer. “To facilitate this, we have recently purchased several pieces of construction equipment ready to rent and we have purchased a new tractor and lowbed trailer to haul not only our rental equipment, but also our customer-owned equipment.”

Some of the equipment already in stock and ready to be leased include a Samsung 350 excavator mounted with a 7,500 ft./lb. Magnum hammer, Sennebogen material handlers, as well as several hydraulic excavators, soil compactors and backhoe loaders.

Edelen and Boyer is the Magnum hammer and Sennebogen representative in southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware area. The company also offers a dump truck service and owns a fleet of new tri-axle dump trucks.

The “new” Edelen and Boyer is certified by the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission and as an Interstate Commerce Carrier so that it has the rights to transport equipment for contractors both in Pennsylvania and across state lines.

The original Edelen and Boyer was founded in Philadelphia in 1917. Then, the company sold construction supplies such as shovels, picks, wheelbarrows, wire rope and Toledo torches.

As the years passed, Edelen and Boyer expanded its equipment line and moved to three locations in Philadelphia. In the mid 1960s, the company closed the Philly stores and opened a facility in Blue Bell, PA. By the late 1970s, the company had moved to Colmar, PA.

Over the course of 88 years, Edelen and Boyer has represented equipment lines such as Rogers trailers, Case tractors with powerloaders, Link-Belt Speeder shovel-cranes, Koehring excavators, Lorain cranes and Samsung excavators.

With Edelen and Boyer set up for business at 3225 Advance Lane in Colmar, McCusker is looking forward to helping fill area contractors’ equipment needs again and he has one important message for customers, “A lot has happened with Edelen and Boyer over the years, but one thing has always remained the same through all that time … We always have and will be now committed to outstanding service and support of all the products we provide to our customers,” he said.
