Ernest L Ransome III Passes Away at Age 86

Giles & Ransome Inc. announced that its Chairman, Ernest L. Ransome III, passed away on Sunday, May 5, at the age of 86.

Mr. Ransome III’s father, P.A. Ransome Sr, founded Giles & Ransome Inc in 1916, and he, along with his two brothers, was the second generation of the company. Giles & Ransome is a Caterpillar and International Dealership that covers southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware. Ransome is among the largest and oldest family-owned companies in the tri-state area

Mr. Ransome III played a pivotal role in both the transition of the company to Wayne Bromley, as the third generation and, most recently, to Kristin Bromley Fitzgerald as the fourth generation owner of the company. Without question, the company said, Mr. Ransome III is a key reason why Giles & Ransome has been a leader in the local construction industry for nearly 100 years.

Mr. Ransome III has had a number of accomplishments over the years including father, grandfather, great-grandfather, chairman of Giles & Ransome, president and chairman of Pine Valley Golf Club, All-American lacrosse and football player at Princeton University, recipient of an honorary doctorate of laws degree from Saint Andrews University in Scotland, and Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The Ransome family expressed that they would like to honor this great man for the legacy that he has left behind.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, May 9, at 11a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church 4th & Main St Riverton, N.J. Burial will be private.
