General Service Manager Celebrates 35th Anniversary

Power Motive Corporation announced Nov. 15 that John Thaden marks his thirty-fifth anniversary with the company this year.

The general service manager for the past ten years, Thaden was first hired at Power Motive as a steam cleaner when he joined the company in 1972. Today, he is responsible for the company’s service operations, which includes more than seventy employees throughout Colorado and five southern counties in Wyoming.

“It’s employees like John Thaden that make Power Motive a successful company,” said Bob Davis, president of Power Motive Corporation. “We are grateful for his contributions. He makes us all proud every day by running the best service business in the industry.”

For his first year at Power Motive, Thaden was a steam cleaner and washed the machines that were being repaired, rented or sold. He was promoted to mechanics helper where he assisted journeymen field men in repairs for any equipment that was too large to transport into the shop. There, he began learning mechanics and discovered he enjoyed the challenges of repairing heavy equipment. Thaden moved into component rebuilding and managed the group for ten years.

He was then promoted to shop service manager where he managed daily operations and scheduling for four years. A promotion to field service manager allowed him to run all field services. In 1997 he was promoted to general service manager, where he oversees all of the service operations at Power Motive.

What’s changed about servicing equipment?

“There are a lot more electronics,” said Thaden. “Earlier, it was all mechanical and very straightforward. Now, the equipment depends on electronics and emission controls to run properly.”

Power Motive Corporation has been selling and servicing heavy machinery since 1959. An exclusive dealer for Komatsu, the company has five locations throughout Colorado.
