Sconyers BBQ was once again the location for GUCA’s area membership meeting Feb. 24 in Augusta.

Seventy-eight GUCA members and guests attended the meeting and were welcomed by Membership Committee Chairman Billy Padgett of Strack, Inc.

Industry, Educational and Safety updates were given by Scott Brumbelow, GUCA assistant executive director, who highlighted important industry related topics including NPDES and damage prevention.

Vikki McReynolds addressed the group and supplied attendees with registration forms for upcoming GUCA events including the 2005 Spring Conference in Fort Gaines, GA, scheduled for April 8 to 10 and the Annual Conference where Zell Miller will attend as keynote speaker, scheduled for June 16 to 18 in Ponte Vedra, FL.

Legislative House and Senate Bills were reviewed along with GUCA PAC updates.

Members and guests were also treated to an informative presentation about recent changes in construction industry taxation courtesy of James Gibson of Smith, Adcock & Co., CPAs.

This meeting ended with door prizes, give-aways and membership updates for GUCA and NUCA provided by Michael Moon, GUCA director of membership.
