Members of the Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) helped Christian City celebrate more than 40 years of ministry to children in need as it completed the utility construction portion of the Children’s Village at Christian City.

The monumental and costly project, which will make Christian City’s services for children modern, includes 12 duplex homes with a total of 24 families located on the Christian City property with two foster children per home.

Christian City began as a dream of several families in the early 1960s who became concerned over the lack of services for children and senior adults. The first children’s cottage opened its doors in 1965, and since then thousands of abused and abandoned children from all over Georgia have received a loving, caring home-like environment at Christian City.

Now 40 years later, Christian City continues to serve children, and its newest endeavor is the creation of a Children’s Village at Christian City. This is where GUCA and many of its 550 member companies have stepped in to help with this project in a major way by donating materials, time and labor. This jump start by the GUCA will give Christian City’s new Children’s Village the momentum it needs to continue to expand its services.

The following GUCA member companies volunteered by giving substantial time, labor and materials valued at more than $871,000.
