Gulf Coast Tractor & Equipment, the Kubota dealer in Land O’Lakes and Plant City, recently opened its own rental company — Gulf Coast Equipment Rental.

The new company specializes in the rental of Kubota tractors, mini-excavators and loaders.

“We opened the company to meet the needs of our customers who were looking to rent late model equipment in the areas we cover,” said Manager Kevin Hansut. “Our plan is to keep late model, low hour machines in the rental fleet so that our customers can rent equipment they know they can depend on. We will supplement our customers’ fleets when they need a piece of equipment for a short term with daily, weekly or monthly rentals.”

The rental business is based in the Land O’ Lakes and Plant City locations, but the company plans to build independent facilities as needed.

“Right now, customers can call either of our locations to rent equipment,” Hansut said.

Handling rentals for the new company is Ross Miller, outside sales representative. Miller brings with him more than 15 years of experience in the construction equipment industry as well as time with a construction company. More staff will be added in the near future.

The entire sales force of the Gulf Coast Tractor locations can handle rentals, too.

The new company will rent L-Series tractors for light grading as well as the full line of Kubota mini-excavators and wheel loaders. The equipment will be targeted to construction equipment users but other equipment will be added in the future “that makes sense,” Hansut said.

The company has delivery services available for customers who can’t or don’t want to haul the equipment around.

The principal owner of the new company is Mike Rowe, who also owns Gulf Coast Tractor & Equipment, but there also are several minority partners.

In describing the business philosophy of the new company Hansut said, “We’re here to serve our customers and we don’t like to say no to them so we will do what we can to help them.”
