Harold E. “Hap” Carr, formerly of Huntington Valley, PA, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at his home in Osprey, FL, at age 75.

He was the husband of Priscilla Edden Carr. Born in Doylestown, Bucks County, PA, he was the son of the late C. Leslie and Hazel E. (Myers) Carr.

Carr had a 50-year career in the electrical industry. After graduation from Upper Southampton/Warminster High School in 1948, he was employed as an apprentice lineman of the Philadelphia Electric Company. In 1958, he and Ed Duff founded the Carr & Duff Company located in Huntington Valley.

He was the president of Carr & Duff until his retirement in 1997. He was involved in many industry activities, including serving as a member and past president of the Board of Governors of the Electrical Association of Philadelphia.

Carr was well respected for mentoring and helping many young people get their start in the industry. Over the years, he even helped his competitors who came to him seeking advice.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by four children, Steven H. Carr and his wife Carolyn of Rushland, Bucks County, Kenneth M. Carr of Quakertown, PA, Joanne Carr of Venice, FL, and Ronald E. Carr and his wife Carol of Brandenton, FL; his 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Melissa, Gregory, Peter, Adam, Jillian, Christina, Jennifer, Shawn, John and Carolyn; his brother, C. Leslie Carr Jr. of Toms River, NJ; and sisters Katharine Pond of Doylestown, Grace Anders of Warminster, PA and Carolyn DelPopolo of Ambler, PA.

A memorial service was held Aug. 8, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Rd., Southampton, PA 18966. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made in Harold’s name to Tide Well Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. Arrangements were made by the James J. McGhee Funeral Home, Southampton, PA.
