Hawthorne Pacific Corp. has promoted Bobby Whitworth to general manager.

Whitworth brings to this role 22 years of Caterpillar dealer experience.

As Hawthorne Pacific’s general service manager over the last four years, he has been a major contributor to the development in service operations.

Whitworth stated, “I am honored to have been offered this opportunity. Helping this organization to make continual improvements to our operations and customer service, for all of the products that we represent at Hawthorne Pacific, is a challenge that I look forward to. It is vital for us to focus on corporate growth and see how we can better serve not only our customers, but our employees as well.”

In his new role as general manager, Whitworth will have responsibility for Hawthorne Pacific Corp.’s day-to-day business operations with primary focus on product support, branch operations, environmental/safety, facilities, and administrative support.

He also will have management oversight for the company’s machinery sales, rental, product support/sales, and engine division operations.

In 1986, he started at the company, then known as Pacific Machinery, as a technician helper.

In his 22 years with the company, Whitworth has served as a journeyman in the earth-moving shop, product support service representative, Kauai branch service manager — which required him to relocate for six years before transferring back to Oahu to become the heavy service manager, and most recently, general service manager.

Hawthorne Pacific Corp. serves Hawaii, Guam and Saipan with sales, rentals, parts and service of new and used Cat machinery and power systems. The company also represents Kubota, Toro, Club Car and other allied brands.

Hawthorne serves various industries including: heavy and general construction; quarry and aggregate; paving; agriculture and landscaping; marine; engine and power generation.

Eight branch facilities are located throughout the region on Oahu (Waipahu and Mapunapuna), Hawaii (Hilo and Kona), Maui, Kauai, Guam and Saipan.

The dealership has been a division of the Hawthorne family of companies since May 2004, but has been operating as the exclusive Caterpillar dealer in Hawaii since 1925.

The Hawthorne family of companies includes Hawthorne Machinery Co., which serves San Diego County, Hawthorne de Mexico, Hawthorne of Samoa, Hawthorne Power Systems, and Hawthorne Rent-It Service.
