On Jan. 15, 2004, Jackson, MS-based Heavyquip purchased Columbia Crawler, creating South Carolina’s first Heavyquip location.

South Carolina Heavyquip offers parts for all brands of equipment, custom fabrication and welding, hydraulic hose building and many other services.

Heavyquip specializes in after-market parts for Case, Komatsu, Terex, Kobelco, Hyundai, Hitachi, Caterpillar, John Deere, Samsung and Daewoo.

Since taking over 39-year-old Columbia Crawler, Heavyquip has added to the staff and increased the size of the parts inventory, which is now in excess of $2 million, said Jeff Hunter, branch manager.

“If parts are not on the shelf, they’ll be available the next day,” he said.

South Carolina Heavyquip has a staff of 20 people with generations worth of experience. The service personnel alone bring with them 141 years of industry experience.

Hunter said that Heavyquip also has added several new lines including United brooms, Fleet Guard filter lines, Black Cat blades, and Nelson exhaust products. The company also offers ground-engaging tools for all equipment, elevator scraper parts and undercarriage parts for all equipment.

Located in Columbia, the latest Heavyquip location offers an eight-bay shop with six outside service bays. The facility also has two track presses and Hunter is in the process of putting together a full-service truck fleet.

South Carolina Heavyquip promises a full inspection on every piece of equipment, said Hunter.

Heavyquip is one of the largest retail construction parts and service companies in North America, with full-service shops located throughout the Southeast

The company’s primary retail coverage is in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Heavyquip also conducts wholesale business in all of the Americas, including Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. Heavyquip sales are approximately 50 percent in undercarriages and the other 50 percent in a variety of parts, including ground engaging tools, engines, transmissions, other power train parts and labor.
