Highway Equipment Company celebrated its 80th anniversary with an open house event at the company’s headquarters in Zelienople, Pa., on April 12 and 13.

Manufacturer representatives from Highway Equipment Company’s product lines were on hand to help out with the festivities and provide information about their equipment.

An outdoor demonstration area was set up at the back of Highway Equipment Company’s facility for attendees who wanted to try out the machines for themselves. A catered lunch was provided and door prizes were handed out to all who attended the event.

A key highlight at the event was the presentation of the 2012 Pinnacle Top Dealer Performance Award to Highway Equipment President Tom Reynolds and CEO Dan Reynolds. Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas President Sam Yoon and management staff made the presentation.

The Reynolds also were presented with a plaque from Associated Equipment Distributor Executive Vice President Bob Henderson commemorating the dealership’s 75 years as a member.

Founded by current company President Tom Reynolds’ grandfather, D.L. Reynolds in 1933, Highway Equipment Company has grown from a one-room warehouse in downtown Pittsburgh to become a leading distributor of construction equipment serving western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio. The dealership also has branch locations in Dubois and McKean, Pa.

In 1951, the dealership opened Machinery Rental in Pittsburgh as its division serving contractors in a wide range of industries with light to medium sized construction equipment.

Among the major lines represented by Highway Equipment Company are Gradall, Hyundai , IHI Carriers, Kawasaki, Kobelco, Doosan off road trucks, New Holland and Sakai as well as Rogers trailers and a variety of standard and specialty equipment attachments.
