Illinois Equipment Distributors (IED) welcomed Rick Dahl of Metrolift as the new president at its members meeting Dec. 12. Dahl served as the organization’s vice president and treasurer in 2008. At that meeting, Dahl presented 2008 President Bob Jones of S.E.S. with the Presidential Plaque for his service to IED.

The meeting was held at Carlucci’s Restaurant where Jones welcomed everyone with a Merry Christmas.

During the meeting, Jones recounted some of IED’s accomplishments such as defending against the Prevailing Wage legislation passed in Illinois. Additionally, he noted the joining with other industry organizations including the Illinois Road Builders to explore the implications of the new state of Illinois legislative committee being formed to potentially tax diesel engine emissions and maintaining the new relationship with the Illinois Mechanical Specialty Contractors Association to monitor different legislative viewpoints.

IED’s new slate of officers for 2009 include Vice President Jim Cox of Casey Equipment, Treasurer Steve Dillon of West Side Tractor, Executive Secretary Hugh Goulding of E TIP Inc., First-Year Director Bob Jones of S.E.S. Inc., Second-Year Director Mark Harbaugh of Ditch Witch Midwest and Associate Director Joe McKeon of Construction Equip Guide.

Jim Cox sent his son David Cox and his father Don Cox to represent Casey Equipment. Dahl recognized Don Cox as one of the founders of Casey Equipment and as a fifty year member of lED. Casey Equipment was among the early organizations who came together to create Illinois Equipment Distributors.

Dahl wrapped up the meeting by outlining some of his goals for the coming year.
