More than 50 members and guests were welcomed Friday evening, Nov. 30, to the 46th annual Christmas Reception and Installation of Officers for Illinois Equipment Distributors (IED) at Carlucci’s Restaurant in Downers Grove, Ill.

The newly installed 2013 officers recognized by 2012 President Barry Heinrichs are as follows: President Robert Sloan, Contractors Equipment Rentals; Vice President Tom Novak, Martin Equip; Treasurer Tom Smith, National Lift Truck; Executive Secretary Jacki Valdez, Metro Lift; First Year Director Barry Heinrichs, Burris Equipment Co.; and Second Year Director Steve Dillon, West Side Tractor.

Heinrichs expressed his gratitude to all present for helping celebrate this special occasion and acknowledged those who have served on the 2012 board for their successful contributions over the years.

Heinrichs then called Hugh Goulding, retiring executive secretary, to the microphone, thanking Goulding for his 30 years of service to IED and presenting him with an IED plaque, as well as a $250 gift card.

Goulding thanked Heinrichs and the board and said he enjoyed serving through all the years. It is the spirit of the organization that is contributed by each member company sharing the awareness that all are earning a living in this great industry, said Goulding.

Joining together for the common good through their membership in IED creates an atmosphere of cooperation on industry issues even among competitors that benefits the entire industry, according to Goulding.

E TIP, Inc., remains as an IED Associate Member and will be attending meetings in the future, said Goulding.

Henrichs proceeded to introduce Jacki Valdez of Metro Lift, who is assuming the 2013 executive secretary duties, to guests and members.

“She has been very helpful with our annual golf outing and other events,” said Heinrichs.

“Jacki is very excited to be serving as executive secretary and is anxious to start as soon as possible. Her experience in organizing association events will serve her well.”

At this point in the evening Heinrichs called on newly elected President Robert Sloan to take the reins. Sloan presented Heinrichs, who is only the second president to serve two terms on the board, with the distinguished IED president’s plaque.

Heinrichs thanked Goulding for his dedication to IED and expressed confidence that the continued success of the association is due to such members such as Goulding.

Sponsors of the event included: Sentry Insurance, Wells Fargo, Construction Equipment Guide, OSCO Incorporated and Heil & Heil.
