Improvements to Shasta Dam Blvd. Near Completion, Improve Safety

Mon September 10, 2012 - West Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

Caltrans, the City of Shasta Lake, and contractor Darren Taylor Construction continue work on the final phase of the State Route (SR) 151 (Shasta Dam Blvd.) project in the City of Shasta Lake, including the area of Shasta Way.

The improvements to SR 151 include an added raised pedestrian refuge island, which restricts the left turns from Shasta Way. The changes will improve safety for pedestrians crossing the intersection and calm or slow traffic in the area.

Completion of this project also includes an additional raised pedestrian refuge island just west of the Mussel Shoals and Grand Coulee Blvd, intersection and additional lighting within the project limits.

With the start of the new school year, Caltrans and the City of Shasta Lake remind everyone traveling on SR 151 near the Shasta Way intersection, and to Grand Oaks Elementary School, to become familiar with the changes.

Please remember to slow down in construction zones and watch for pedestrians in designated crosswalks.
