INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The rebuilding of a 6-mi. (9.6 km) stretch of Interstate 70 on the east side of Indianapolis was completed in mid-November.

The Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Will Wingfield said he expected all lanes would be reopened in the next day or two of Nov. 15. But he warned that commuters should still consider the area a construction zone.

INDOT said lane markers must still be placed in the westbound lanes.

The $175 million project began in February.

The project is the biggest single-season construction project INDOT has ever undertaken.

It runs from the eastern leg of Interstate 465 to downtown Indianapolis. It’s the first major reconstruction on the road since it was built nearly 40 years ago.
