The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has secured all 62 right of way pieces needed to extend the King Expressway bypass from the U.S. Highway 70 East interchange to the junction of Arkansas Highways 5&7 North. Randy Ort, ARDOT's deputy director and chief operating officer, said McGeorge Contracting in Little Rock has begun excavating the more than 2 million cu.

Arkansas's Little Rock Port Authority announced July 6 that it had secured $11 million in investments to support transportation infrastructure improvements in the port's footprint. As many as 1,500 new jobs may be added, according to a release from the port.

The Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) has awarded a $180 million contract to replace the 64-year-old runway at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas. The project is being carried out as a collaboration between the AFCEC, the base, the Air Force Installation Contracting Center and the Air Force Installation Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) Detachment 9.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) has announced that widening Cantrell Road (AR Highway 10) between Pleasant Ridge Road and Pleasant Valley Drive in Little Rock required the permanent closure of the latter street on June 1. Crews did so to allow for utility and construction work to continue in preparation for larger highway building activities in the west Little Rock area, including an $81 million project to widen Cantrell Road.

Work to complete the Bella Vista Bypass near Bentonville, Ark., is close to its schedule, despite the fact the primary contractor paused one project after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus. The delay wasn't critical to the larger picture of completing the project, said Steve Lawrence, District 9 engineer of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).

Multi-Craft Contractors Inc. of Springdale, Ark., completed purchase of a Link-Belt 210-ton (185-t) ATC-3210 all-terrain crane in order to meet growing lifting demands of northwest Arkansas. Multi-Craft began operations in 1972, and services mechanical, electrical, fabrication and HVAC industries, along with other commercial and industrial needs.
