Following the record-breaking success of its 2016 Florida sale, this year's event will be held over five days in order to meet the needs of the dozens of featured Caterpillar dealers, leading OEMs, dealers, construction companies, rental companies, financial institutions, and other large fleet owners that have consigned equipment.
Despite the aftermath of tropical storm Collin, IronPlanet presented a Cat Auction Services sale at Ring Power Corp. in St. Augustine, Fla., on June 8. More than 450 pieces of equipment were available for the large crowd of bidders. Equipment was consigned from a number of southeastern dealers.

IronPlanet sold $33.7 million in equipment at auctions held on May 13 and 14, 2015. In addition to sales across its online marketplaces IronPlanet, TruckPlanet, and GovPlanet, IronPlanet held two onsite auctions: a Cat Auction Services live unreserved public auction in Morgantown, W.Va., and a Kruse Energy & Equipment Auctioneers two-day auction in Odessa, Texas.
Cat Auction Services held a joint auction with IronPlanet on March 25, which brought in more than 1,300 bidders to Ziegler CAT’s Altoona, Iowa, location. This is the second joint sale Cat Auction Services and IronPlanet have held; the first was held earlier this year in Orlando.
The December announcement that IronPlanet and Cat Auction Services are merging was the fruit of more than a year of discussions initiated by IronPlanet Chairman and CEO Gregory J. Owens. The union of the two heavy equipment auction houses is expected to be completed by early summer.
