Central America

With original construction more than 100 years ago, the Panama Canal, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through Central America, has had numerous upgrades through the years. Recently, a massive 10-year project to construct a third set of locks and increase the capacity of the canal was completed by Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC), an international consortium of industrial contractors.

Dynapac North America LLC, a leading manufacturer of rollers for asphalt and soil applications, pavers and planers, announced Sept. 19, it has hired Kerri McCullough as senior manager of customer financial solutions for North America. McCullough will lead equipment financing programs to assist dealers, rental partners and customers in the acquisition of Dynapac equipment.

The Mack Masters Competition, a biennial event designed to evaluate participants' knowledge of Mack's service systems and procedures, concluded with a new team earning the right to call themselves Mack Masters champions. After several rounds of competition, including a comprehensive final challenge, the “Slackers” from CIT Trucks in Rockford, Illinois were named champions of the second Mack Masters Competition.

A ceremony took place last week to celebrate the beginning of the construction of a 17.8 MW PV plant in El Salvador. The Trinidad and Márquez project, being developed by U.S. and Spanish company Real Infrastructure, will be completed within eight months.
