Digging & Rigging, a crane and rigging company based out of Mount Airy, Md., deployed a Grove TMS500-2 truck crane to assist a helicopter with the installation of a new radio tower in Clear Spring, Md. The helicopter air-lifted the 5-ton tower antenna while the truck crane helped tail it until it was in a complete vertical position.

For Dan Manos, owner of General Crane Rental LLC, relationships and growth are the two driving factors behind his approach to operating his business. Manos began his career working with his father at age 16 and credits his father and uncle for teaching him the majority of what he knows about steel erecting and crane rental.

Aber's Towing & Crane Service, founded by Miles and Alene Aber in 1950, has grown into an 18 to 20-employee operation, which divides its time equally between its hauling, towing and crane services. Jerry Aber, son of Miles and Alene, and Aaron Aber, son of Jerry, now share the responsibility of running and managing the business.

Cleveland Crane & Shovel's Carl Goins recently joined an exclusive group of only a handful of technicians who have completed the Manitowoc GMK 8.1 Certification Course, distinguishing himself with the highest test score of 99 percent. The two day certification, conducted at Manitowoc's facility in Shady Grove, is a battery of tests to prove a technician's ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues with both current and post production GMK cranes.
