In May 2017, the Governor's Office of Energy Development (OED) will launch an updated version of Utah's Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing program. With the help of a substantial stakeholder group, OED introduced a proposal in the 2017 legislative session to revise the program processes and structures to encourage greater use of the financing tool.

Xcel Energy has started construction on a 345-kilovolt transmission line between Texas and New Mexico to extend its electrical distribution system. Formal groundbreaking ceremonies were scheduled near Hobbs, N.M., on the $400 million project to eventually connect to a substation north of Abernathy, Texas.

Robert Murray says President Donald Trump's roll-back of coal industry regulations will bring back thousands of coal jobs. While he could be right, his view is not exactly unbiased. National Grid is waiting to receive its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission certificate, which will give the company permission to proceed with plans to install a natural gas liquefaction facility at its Fields Point site. After filing for a FERC certificate in April, National Grid is expected to receive its certificate in early 2017.

TDI New England (TDI-NE) announced the United States Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Presidential Permit for the New England Clean Power Link, a 1,000 mW buried electric transmission line that will connect New England with eastern Canada. A Presidential Permit is required for the construction, operation and maintenance of electric facilities connecting at the international borders of the United States.

Construction is scheduled to begin sometime in January at the Port of Krotz Springs for a $48 million transport facility that will facilitate what is being touted as the world's largest oil blending operation, according to officials with the company spearheading the project.
