Both day and night, construction crews in Florida are working on an $802 million design-build project that will improve safety, mobility and traffic operations along SR 836 and I-395. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has partnered with the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) to complete the massive undertaking.

After some time on the drawing board and a year after the official ground-breaking, Beard Equipment's brand-new Ocala, Fla., branch is officially open for business. The 48,000 sq. ft.- facility is situated on 10 acres of land right off Interstate 75 and has plenty of room for any necessary future expansions.

A new Florida law now requires public coastal construction projects to first be reviewed for impacts on the state's fragile seashore because of rising sea levels. Sometimes the beach needs a boost. The first of two phases of beach renourishment, approved by the Manatee County (FL) board of commissioners in October 2019, got under way July 2 to restore sand lost through erosion. A contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is restocking a 5.5-mi.

In late May, as part of the larger construction of the new high-speed Virgin Trains rail line through Brevard County, crews closed the railroad crossing at Prospect Avenue in Melbourne for two years to build new twin bridges spanning Crane Creek. Since the beginning of the year, Virgin Trains has worked to put down tracks in several parts of the city, including along heavily used roads such as New Haven Boulevard and Strawbridge Avenue in Melbourne, which split the downtown area.

Equipment Corporation of America (ECA) has promoted John Hayes to branch manager of ECA Florida and hired Ben Morgan as BAUER product service manager with the BAUER Service Team (BST). Hayes will manage all aspects of ECA's branch in Green Cove Springs, Fla., including sales, rental, parts and service.
