The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) recently elected Michael Corbett, The Corbett Group LLC, Douglasville, Ga., as the 2020-2021 GUCA President at the 2020 GUCA Annual Conference in Amelia Island, Fla. Corbett has served on the GUCA Board of Directors as 1st Vice President 2019-2020; 2nd Vice President 2018-2019; Secretary 2017-2018; and Board of Directors 2012-2016.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) has awarded the 2020 Golden Shovel Legislative Service Award to Sen. Butch Miller. Miller has been a friend of the utility construction industry for many years and is a frequent speaker and presenter at GUCA Legislative Awareness Day the that association hosts at the Capitol each year.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) presented Coweta County resident Joe Strack, Strack Inc. , with the GUCA Lifetime Industry Achievement Award of the Year for 2019-2020 at his company in Fairburn, Ga. Gov. Brian Kemp also gave Strack a commendation for his work and this award.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) presented Cherokee County resident Bobby Touhy, Civil Site Services Inc. , with the GUCA Contractor Member of the Year for 2019-2020 at the 2020 GUCA Annual Conference in Amelia Island, Fla. Gov.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) presented Cobb County resident Smith Peck, HUB International, with the GUCA Associate Member of the Year for 2019-2020 at the 2020 GUCA Annual Conference in Amelia Island, Fla. Gov. Brian Kemp also gave Peck a commendation for his work and this award.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) presented Spalding County resident Harris Stokes, Crawford Grading & Pipeline Inc. , with the GUCA Committee Chairman of the Year for 2019-2020 at the 2020 GUCA Annual Conference in Amelia Island, Fla.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. presented the GUCA Golden Pipe Engineering Award during the GUCA 2018 Fall Quarterly Meeting & Trade Show Nov. 1 at the Loudermilk Center, Atlanta, Ga. The GUCA Golden Pipe Engineering Award has been a couple of years in the making.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) recognized Claudette Campbell of Georgia 811 in Duluth, Ga., as the GUCA Lifetime Industry Achievement Award for 2017-2018. Since joining Georgia 811, Campbell has held the positions of executive director and, most recently, president/C.E.O.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. recently elected Jeff Rowan of Callaway Grading Inc. in Hampton, Ga., as the 2018-2019 GUCA President at the 2018 GUCA Annual Conference in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Rowan has served on the GUCA Board of Directors as 2013-2014 Director; 2014-2015 Director; 2015-2016 Secretary/Treasurer; 2016-2017 Second Vice President; and 2017-2018 First Vice President.

The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. (GUCA) held its 2018 GUCA Hard Hat Safety Award gala on March 29 to honor the 2017 Hard Hat Safety Award recipients. Awards were presented to members dedicated to making safety a priority for every employee.

Crump has served on the GUCA board of directors as 2013 to 2014 director; 2014 to 2015 director; 2015 to 2016 second vice president; and 2016 to 2017 first vice president.
