Let the construction begin … current and former APTA leaders gathered in Alexandria, Va., to celebrate the groundbreaking of APTA Centennial Center, a 7-story, 115,000-sq.-ft. building that will be the association's headquarters beginning in 2021.

As changing weather patterns lead to an ever-warming earth, contractors on a $300 million hospital project in Alaska are taking a tip from the Alaska oil pipeline, installing 16-in. diameter steel pilings drilled 55-ft.-deep that essentially keep the earth cold.

Rudolph Libbe Inc. recently completed construction of the $26 million Northwood Schools in Northwood, Ohio, for Northwood Local Schools (NLS). The school, which acheived LEED Silver certification, is located on the site of the Olney School and the Olney Elementary School that have been demolished, and adjacent to Northwood High School, which will be repurposed with the 800-seat auditorium and 10,000-sq.-ft.

Hawaii's largest and most active airport was recently given a new name — an apt change, perhaps, to go along with the $2.7 billion modernization project that also will undoubtedly give it a new look. The former Honolulu International Airport was rechristened earlier this year the Daniel K.

Northern Arizona University's Science and Health building, one of the newest additions to the Flagstaff campus, has been deemed a gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified building — bringing the total number of LEED-certified buildings on campus to 14, according to the school.
