Light-weight, small and compact aren’t the most common descriptors of construction equipment. Contractors and engineers typically look for hefty, versatile machines that can withstand long hours of use and heavy payloads. On large-scale construction projects, such as erecting a high-rise building, larger equipment just seems to make sense.

Doosan Portable Power has named Liftech Equipment Companies of Syracuse, N.Y., an authorized dealer of its entire line of mobile construction equipment. Liftech will offer Ingersoll Rand-branded line of air compressors, generators, light compaction equipment and lighting systems from its Buffalo and Rochester locations in western New York.

More than 150 working professionals in the asphalt industry convened on Feb. 5 at Liftech Equipment’s Rochester, N.Y., facility for a fact-filled, one-day seminar about best practices in asphalt. Instructor Jim Scherocman, a registered civil engineer and author of the Hot Mix Asphalt Paving Handbook and dozens of technical articles, is a noted expert.

Barrett Trucking Company Inc., currently owned and operated by George, John and James Barrett in Burlington, Vt., was founded by their father, Ulderic “Frenchy” Barrett in 1936 as Barrett Coal & Ice Company. As the company continues to change hands from one generation to the next, its service remains steadfast throughout the Green Mountain State.

Liftech Equipment Companies Inc., a retailer and distributor of construction, industrial and cleaning system equipment, has appointed Jeff Rich as branch manager of its new Connecticut operation. Rich will operate out of Liftech’s Bloomfield, CT, branch office located at 9 Belden Road.

Liftech Equipment Companies Inc. with headquarters in East Syracuse, NY, has expanded its construction equipment operations to include the Connecticut and western Massachusetts region. Liftech has acquired the sales, service, parts, and rental operations of the former JCB construction equipment dealer based in Connecticut, Carpenter and Chapman Inc., whose facility was located at 9 Belden Rd., Bloomfield, CT.

Liftech Equipment Companies Inc. has hired Norm Herzog as the sales representative of construction equipment in western New York. He will operate out of Liftech’s Lancaster, NY, branch office. Herzog’s customer focus and sales integrity, demonstrated over his 15-year field service career, was rewarded by his 2001 induction into the Council of Excellence for Hyster Corporation.

The Great NY State Fair will feature a new and unique attraction when the gates open Aug. 21, 2003. The JCB “Dancing Diggers” will perform stunts and precision maneuvers, choreographed to contemporary music, using 8-ton JCB backhoe loader construction equipment.

JCB recently appointed Liftech Construction Equipment as its dealer for all of upstate New York. With locations in Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo, Liftech is poised to meet the needs of all upstate New York present and future JCB customers. Liftech will represent the full JCB line, which includes:• Tractor loader backhoes (six models), • Loadall material handlers (10 models), • Skid steers (four models), • Mini-excavators (six models), • Excavators, including a 100,000-lb.

Liftech Handling Inc. has entered into an agreement to become the dealer for JCB Inc., serving the Upstate New York marketplace. Liftech will provide sales, parts, service and rentals for the full line of JCB construction equipment, as well as sales of construction industry allied products.
