Modern Machinery Co. Inc. has appointed Lamont Cantrell as president, effective immediately, the company announced. Lamont joined the company in 2003. Lamont, who is well known in the heavy equipment industry, has played a key role in building Modern Machinery into the successful business it is today, a sales and service leader.

Before earning his high school diploma, Kelly Fulfer was an experienced operator and had chosen a career path in construction. As a teen, he worked part time for a contractor in the Boise area and was running a backhoe by the time he was a junior. "During my senior year I had only a couple of classes, so I worked during the day, too," recalled Fulfer.

Carlson Paving Products announced its 2018 Dealer of the Year Award and Top 5 Dealer Awards at World of Asphalt 2019 in Indianapolis. Receiving the company's annual Dealer of the Year Award was Alta Equipment Company. "Alta consistently proves to be one of our strongest partners," said Chris Colwell, president of Carlson Paving Products, as he introduced this year's winners.

Modern Machinery held its annual Paving Day seminar at its Kent, Wash., location on Feb 23. Although the weather was less than cooperative, 92 attendees were on hand to hear the latest information on paving, milling and compaction practices and equipment.

Poe Asphalt Paving marks its 65th anniversary this year as the company's history dates back to 1953 when Ernie Poe and Kenny Knapp formed a firm known simply as Asphalt Paving in Clarkston, Wash. Today, Poe Asphalt Paving has multiple locations that cover a significant portion of the Pacific Northwest and is led by third- and fourth-generation members of the Poe family.

Modern Machinery is now the exclusive Dealer of DC Equipment/Falcon Forestry Equipment (FFE). DC Equipment designs and manufactures a range of mechanized steep slope logging equipment that significantly reduces the health and safety risk to workers while at the same time increasing the overall efficiency and productivity of crews.

Carlson Paving Products Inc. announces the addition of Modern Machinery as the exclusive dealer for the manufacturer's commercial class paver platforms. “We are very excited for this partnership between Carlson and Modern Machinery” stated Chris Colwell, president of Carlson Paving Products Inc.

Modern Machinery took a $300,000 swing yarder and converted it into a million-dollar machine. According to Russ Smith, territory manager, this was an incredible project for both Modern and for the customer. “Retrofit created a million-dollar machine as close to new as possible,” Smith said.

Modern Equipment & Supply will represent the Mustang line of compact dirt and mini-excavation equipment in its territories of Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mustang, a division of Manitou Group, manufactures an impressive selection of compact loaders, made in America – and offers a complete line of compact excavators.

Bandit Industries, a supplier of brush chippers and stump grinders, has awarded additional territory to the Modern Goup. The Modern Group had already handled sales in the five county Philadelphia region and in central New Jersey. Modern’s new territory will include Bandit sales, parts and service in southern New Jersey including Burlington, Mercer, Ocean, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Cape May and Atlantic counties.

Modern Machinery has added Kleemann to its line of products for the aggregate, recycle, slag, coal and green waste industries. With more than a century of experience in the construction of stationary plants, Kleemann, a member of the Wirtgen Group, has become one of the main forces driving the development of tracked mobile crushing and screening plants in both the natural rock and stone industry and in the recycling sector, according to the company.
